Not in this case, at least (though I'll admit I hadn't noticed it was a new account). It seems legit based on his explanation of where he got the game and such.
Maybe these games were seeded to that small group for specific purposes of reviewing them on various sites and such? Hard to say...but I suppose it's plausible.
I just felt like it was a decent review and wasn't overly "glowing," per se. SO I didn't have my suspicions raised like some apparently did.

It not suspicion, exactly. It's simply that there had to be a specific motive for posting this review -- not as a gamer sharing their opinion, but rather specifically coming to BGG to post a positive review about a single game. He's added nothing to his profile, hasn't posted or contributed anywhere else, so no matter how you look at it, the reasoning behind being here is to just cheerlead for the game.
That's ok, I don't have a problem with it. I like hearing points of view from people who love something. That being said, in this situation -- with no other information about the writer -- I don't think Horrid Beast's inquiry was out of line.
I'm also not suggesting the review shouldn't be here or isn't valid ... just that it's good to be discerning in these circumstances.
I actually am just a gamer who wanted to write a review. lol ... I obviously cannot prove this, so I guess it is a moot point. As someone else pointed out, I post occasionally on the FFG site for GoT and now Star Wars. I am not sure why having received a free copy of the game makes me more inclined to like it (my free copy of Risk still sits on the shelf). :)
I'll take your word for it mate. I just wanted to know for sure :D
My discernment radar went off with you explanation on the already mentioned paragraph. My mate is buying this game and if it proves to be better than AGoT LCG then I will invest in it. Have you played AGoT? If so which do you personally prefer?
AGoT is my favorite card game lol. Star Wars is not better than AGoT IMO, but it is "up there" on my list of card games. Star Wars is much more accessible for newer "gamers" than AGoT is. Your criticisms about "that paragraph" are warranted, but I included "that paragraph", because the most prominent complaints I have heard about the game so far is not the game-play, its that issue about spaceships fighting characters. So if I did not include "that paragraph" I would not be addressing the most popular perceived weakness of the game, which would make this a worse review. :)
Thankyou very much for your quick response. AGoT is pretty damn awesome. I can see why you wrote what you did in a way. We BGGers expect a damn lot especially when major films/books are the theme. But I guess designers now have to compete with so many other games.
