Hi!

This is a small variant to make asteroids more unpredictable and fun.

***

WHAT YOU NEED: a D6 and something to roll up a random 360° direction (aka a Warhammer 40,000 HIT-dice or some other spinning thing to randomize a 360 degree direction). And, of course, asteroids on your gaming area.

HOW IT'S DONE: At each start of the round of the player who has the initiative, appoint one asteroid after another (until all of them have been appointed once) and roll a D6 & the random-direction tool (dice, whatever). The d6 shows you how far to move the asteroid in centimeters (you could change that to inches if you'd like, but then better at least half the rolled distance) and the random-direction tool shows you the direction the asteroid has to be moved to.
Move each asteroid once, then continue with your turn.

WATCH OUT: If a moving asteroid moves in contact with the base of one or more ships, it immediately stops moving and each hit ship has to roll a damage dice. Each HIT or CRITICAL HIT counts as a CRITICAL HIT and is applied directly to the hit ship.
Boom! Better not stick to close to those asteroids!

IT'S GONE: If a asteroid leaves the defined gaming area, it's out of the game.

I think that this little variant will spice up battles inside of asteroid fields.

I'd love to hear your comments and tips on this variant!
