It can fire more than once during the same combat. Plasma missiles fire once, and then they are spent.

Also, it does twice the damage per hit, doesn't it? Which makes it a mighty deterrent, at least in our games.

Each antimatter cannon tile does 4 damage in one hit. But plasma missile tiles also do 4 damage- in 2 separate hits of 2. On this particular measurement, plasma missiles are clearly better- you can split the damage up more.
